FAQ
We are a Prime. Is CMMC compliance not our subcontractors' responsibility?
Contractually, each supplier is responsible for its own compliance. Practically, the exposure is yours. CMMC requirements flow to every tier handling FCI or CUI, a Prime has no authority to waive flow-down, and a Prime remains responsible for subcontractor compliance even without direct access to a supplier's SPRS record. If a supplier you depend on is not ready, the schedule risk, the replacement cost, and the contract exposure land on your program, not theirs.
Phase 2 was suspended in July 2026. Why act now?
Because the underlying obligations did not go away and the capacity problem got worse, not better. DFARS 252.204-7012 remains fully enforceable, Phase 1 self-assessment and annual SPRS affirmations remain active, and existing contracts carrying Level 2 or Level 3 requirements still have to be addressed. When third-party assessment requirements resume, an assessor ecosystem of roughly 100 accredited organizations will be serving a Defense Industrial Base of more than 100,000 companies. Readiness work done now is the same work either way, and it positions your suppliers ahead of that queue rather than behind it. Verify your specific contract clause rather than relying on public phase dates. Your binding obligation is contract-specific.
What if a supplier is too small to justify the cost?
That is exactly where scoping discipline and enclave architecture matter most. Most small suppliers are over-scoped, having pulled their whole network into the compliance boundary when only a handful of systems and users actually touch CUI. Correcting the boundary, and where appropriate moving CUI into an isolated enclave accessed only through virtual desktop infrastructure, often changes a project from unaffordable to achievable without lowering the security bar.
Can you support suppliers outside Hawaii and Guam?
Yes. Our regional depth is in the Pacific, and that is where we are hardest to replace, but the readiness methodology, documentation, and assessment support are delivered remotely for mainland suppliers in the same cohort. Many Primes use us specifically to cover the Pacific portion of a supply chain that a mainland consultant cannot service well.
Will you try to take over our suppliers' IT?
No. We deliver compliance leadership alongside whatever IT provider each supplier already uses, and we translate requirements into prioritized tasks their existing team executes. We also run a separate partner program for MSPs who want to deliver CMMC to their own clients with our certified team behind them. Displacing incumbent providers is not the model.
